As a parent of three children I find that there is plenty to keep our whole family occupied in Chandler. There are lots of swimming pools, parks and team sports for my eldest son, and my daughter loves biking on the local trails.
For our toddler, the Playtopia playground at Tumbleweed Park keeps him (and me) busy for hours. The schools here are of an excellent standard, and they encourage extracurricular activities for the children. There are lots of youth programs and activities, and many children attend the camps during the summer. Just outside of the city is hiking and if you enjoy nature and wilderness then it is easy to get away. I love to golf with my friends, and there are many great courses very close to our house.
One favorite pastime of ours has been attending plays and concerts at the Chandler Center for the Arts. It attracts some great performers, and there is always something playing for both kids and adults. Walking around Chandler there is a lot of public art - sculptures, fountains and other artwork - that has been donated to and commissioned by the city. You'll often see people out walking during the cooler times of the year, or sitting and admiring the artwork.
Chandler has a young and vibrant population, with plenty to do for people of all ages. There are restaurants, shops and nightlife, yet it close enough to Phoenix if you need that "big city" fix. However, it has retained a small town feel, with low crime, excellent schools and a very friendly atmosphere. Submitted to: Buy Foreclosed Homes Chandler
When our family decided to stop in Chandler, Arizona on our camping trip across the US, we didn't expect to fall so in love with the city.
From the perfectly alluring weather to the warm and friendly people we found Chandler to be a mix of vibrancy and relaxation fit for a spot in our vacation. The Chandler Museum offered very educational exhibits that enlightened us about a part of America's history over the last 100 years. For history lovers the historic downtown Chandler is not to be missed. It is a national historic district with all sorts of interesting sites, stores and galleries.
Our kids especially enjoyed the Hamilton Aquatic Centre, one of Chandler's several aquatic attractions. At the Hamilton Aquatic Centre located at the North West corner of Arizona Avenue and Octillo Road, we had a day's worth of fun filled excitement what with the two large water slides, the water vortex and the diving boards for entertainment. The current river was the most exciting for me.
A feature of Chandler that we all loved was the Downtown Chandler Art Walk. This is a monthly event that we were luckily able to catch on out short trip into Chandler. We not only were able to purchase paintings, crafts, pottery and other artworks but we also got to see some of the artists at work which caused much enthusiasm among the kids. The event also comes with live music which makes for great entertainment and even adds some romance to whole affair. We were able to enjoy dinner in between our shopping and viewing of artwork which made the whole event convenient for our family.
