Apache Junction had its roots firmly planted in the mining and transportation industry up until the late 1900s and early 20s. However, during the 1950s and the 1960s, a central downtown emerged slowly around the Old Superstition Inn and stretched alongside the Apache Trail. Currently, the city is involved in serious developmental work, in order to emerge as a 21st century center for retail businesses, offices and downtown suburban living, entirely supported by the south western, territorial fee of the Apache Junction.

In spite of the numerous construction projects underway and rapid growth in the residential and corporate areas, Apache junction has retained its natural grandeur and remains a city of vast, open panoramas.
