As a newly wed and a couple on a budget, my husband and I decided that Gilbert Arizona would be the perfect place to start our new lives.
My husband is a marine and we had spent a few years in various parts of the world. We've been everywhere from New Jersey, to Mississippi, to Japan! Ultimately it was the dry climate, the outstanding school system, and the family oriented community which made us decide to finally settle and start our family here in Arizona. Soon after he started a local photography business the next town over and has been very successful.
Originally, when we were looking for what town to buy within, we asked some friends and family who lived in Arizona. Gilbert was a consistent name that kept being recommended to us, and after a brief Google search I stumbled upon their town website. Every month was jam packed with town gatherings, festivals, and raising awareness in the community of what was going on in the world. Just last month they kick started Art Walk at the Water Tower Plaza in downtown Gilbert which our whole family found fascinating. From encouraging the citizens to wear pink for breast cancer awareness, or to institute proper buddy tips for letting your children walk to and from school or how to trick or treat with caution, these people got involved. It made me feel like I could trust my child to grow in a place where the values and safety were hand in hand.
Ultimately, after now having one 2 year old girl and a bouncing 10 month old baby boy, I found the parents in the area to be a joy. There are tons of family friendly classes and other recreations that so many people get involved with at the Page Park Center. My daughter has already acquired who she calls her best friend through a good mutually involved family! Play dates are never hard to come by and neither are other parents looking to enjoy the scenery and watch the children play till the sun goes down. Ultimately, I can't imagine my husband and I settling anywhere else

My fiance and I moved to Gilbert, Arizona two years ago when we searched for a new residence to raise a family.
As people who loves the outdoors and the holidays, we picked a great place to live! Gilbert's Freestone Park has beautiful scenery and many free entertainment events, including concerts with local bands. The park also hosts the Fall Music and Halloween Festival, which has great food, games, live music, and inflatable slides. The Community Center hosts family friendly movie events monthly on a big screen, and the Gilbert Art Walk (located at the Water Tower Park) is held every fourth Friday from September through May.
The Riparian Nature Preserve in Gilbert has many unique plants and a variety of wildlife to admire. This is one of my favorite places to visit. Children can join the Little Nature Explorers group to exercise outdoors and learn about nature. Riparian Institute also has a fantastic observatory that is open to the public every Friday and Satuday evening at nightfall throughout autumn. It can be very romantic and is often the destination for date night with my fiance.
Beginning in May, Gilbert has several aquatic centers and pools that offer swimming classes and dive teams. Lifeguard training is also available, among other recreational programs. The pools are open every day of the week with the exception of Sunday. Staying active is very important to me, so I utilize the pool often in the summer. Children and adults can find many different activities to occupy free time in Gilbert. From nature preserves, park, and aquatic centers to free outdoor concerts and movies, anyone would be pleased with what is offered. With so many different free activities and celebrations, it's hard to be bored living in Gilbert, Arizona!
